The Pink Box - Mumbai based Menstrual Health startup provides subscription service and education for everything a woman needs during her period.

Crimson Fuchsia Retail is a startup that works in the Menstrual Hygiene space. A little over 2 years old, this start-up is known for their unique period subscription, The Pink Box, and the diverse Menstrual Hygiene products their platform features. They focus on enabling one to have a comfortable, hygienic and happy Period!

Here’s more about The Pink Box straight from their founder, Sanjana Pai.

During my growing years, I met people from different parts of the country, which made me realize that something as common as menstruation, tends to hold women back from being comfortable – in their personal as well as professional lives! This is a common occurrence in Rural as well as Urban India.

A stark contrast that also exists in our society, is that while we tend to talk about periods and reproductive health in hushed tones, we’ve also normalized menstruation to an extent where we don’t even think about what our body needs during those days!  Our requirements start and end at ‘I need a pad’, while our bodies need more than that. We need good nutrition and good hygiene.

The stigma associated with menstruation isn’t new, either. Generations of women have had to ‘put up with’ and ‘deal with’ superstitions and beliefs surrounding periods, some of which come at the cost of personal hygiene!

I’d interacted with someone a few years back who did not throw out a pad after sunset, because a superstition warned her not to. The used – thankfully wrapped – pad stayed in her bathroom overnight instead of going straight to the dustbin.

There are also the funny ones, too, like “Don’t water the Tulsi plant on your period”, “Don’t touch flowers or they will die”, and the most common – “Don’t touch the pickle!”.

I knew that Menstrual Health was my calling, and that’s why I started The Pink Box. It is a subscription service for everything women need on their period, and we also host eco-conscious, drug-free and chemical-free period products on our platform, like Menstrual Cups, Biodegradable Sanitary Pads & Tampons, Wellness Roll Ons, Ayurveda-based Pain Relief Products, and more.

We also enable women to pamper themselves during their period! Our subscription box comes with healthy snacks, sweets and stress-busters. We also have Period Chocolates, Period Teas, PCOS/PCOS Drinks, and more, on our platform.

We constantly work towards de-stigmatizing Periods and helping people see it for what it really is – a regular & normal biological process. We’ve helped 2000 women and children in Mumbai & Pune gain access to not only sanitary pads, but also quality education about Menstrual Hygiene. 

Through our campaigns, we’ve bridged the gap between doctors and those who are less privileged than us. We’ve helped kids from diverse communities understand the biology behind menstruation, and beat the taboo.
